According to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe explosion appears to have been caused by an IED left inside a bag.

Police investigated in Bangluru's bomb blast.

A low-intensity explosion at a well-known restaurant in Bengaluru’s Whitefield neighborhood on Friday afternoon injured at least ten people.

Several IT company employees were eating lunch in the dining area of Rameshwaram Cafe, a prominent chain of vegetarian restaurants, when the explosion happened.

Authorities are looking into what caused the explosion, which according to witnesses was consistent with a low-intensity IED (improvised explosive device).

“It would be premature to speculate on the cause of the blast without a report from the Forensic Science Laboratory,” declared Karnataka DGP Alok Mohan after seeing the explosion scene.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that an IED was the source of the explosion.

“I’ve had conversations with senior police officers and the home minister.” They told me that there was someone who didn’t know who brought a bag to the restaurant. He had food and purchased a token. He later abandoned the bag containing the device. Reporters in Mysuru were informed by Siddaramaiah that the police were reviewing CCTV video.

When asked if it was a terrorist attack, the Chief Minister replied that an inquiry was being conducted.

Ten people were hurt in all, with a woman suffering forty percent burns among them. Swarnamba Narayanappa, 45, a worker for the IT company Microchip India Pvt Ltd, is in the intensive care unit at the nearby Brookfield Hospital. The hospital’s medical director, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, stated, “She will require a plastic surgery.”

“When it occurred, she and her coworkers were having lunch at the restaurant. Shyam Sundar, Swarnamba’s husband, said, “I saw her being led out in television visuals and learned about the incident.”

According to a police officer, two employees, Farooq Hussain and Deepanshu Kumar, were also injured.

19-year-old Assamese migrant laborer Faruq Hussain, who works at the hotel, has been admitted to the hospital’s general ward. Doctors believe that the external abrasion wounds Hussain had on his left side of the body may have been caused by shattered glass. “I can’t recall anything at all. A sort of explosion occurred, according to Hussain.

An further victim According to his roommate and buddy Saurabh, Deepanshu, 25, was shocked by the noise but did not sustain any outward injuries. He said, “Deepanshu works for Amazon and had gone for lunch.”

Separate from the dining area in a different area of the restaurant was another Assamese worker who also shares housing with Hussain. He reported hearing a noise and then glass breaking. And when he emerged into the dining room, he spotted smoke.

Swarnamba’s Microchip coworker also disclosed that another of their coworkers, Nagesh, was admitted to a second hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

A staff worker stated, “There was an explosion in the customer area. The incident happened at around 12:45 p.m. and we are not sure what exactly happened.”
